Do you actually need this?

If your site is on a CMS (WordPress or similar), yes — unpatched CMS software is one of the most common ways small business sites get hacked or defaced. If your site is a simple static site, the risk is lower, but backups and occasional review are still worth having.

Maintenance is a separate ongoing cost

This is billed monthly, separate from the original website build — standard across the industry, since ongoing upkeep is genuinely different work from a one-time build. We keep it as a clearly itemized line in your quote.
